Made with love.

Gareth has started asking recently if he can have a cup of tea when he sees me making one.

When I was growing up it was not uncommon to put milky tea in a baby's bottle as a comfort drink. I remember reading in a baby book when I was pregnant with Sian that the tannins in tea reduce a babies ability to absorb iron. I have no idea if that is still the advice but I figure that at 6 years of age and with a huge and healthy appetite a cup of tea is hardly likely to kill him.

And so when my tea bag has turned the hot water in my cup deep rich brown I put it in Gareth's cup and it just has the strength to turn the water a vague shade of sand! Gareth loves the warmth of the cup in his hands and has a big grin on his face as he sips it. The other morning the conversation went like this...

"How do you make tea Mum?"
"Did you put a bit of love in it? "
"Because I can feel it all warm just here mum, passing my heart on it's way to my tummy"
"'I can feel the love warming me all up!"

  3. I had tea one time when I was 4 years old. I was sick and throwing up and my dad gave me some. I could only sip once before the smell completely nauseated me.

Fast forward 20 years. I'm sitting at a mall in Scotland with my sister and a woman came and sat at our table. She had the same tea. The smell made me gag and I had to move.

19 years later. I ordered an herb through the mail. When it arrived, it smell of that same tea. I gagged and threw it away.

Thank you, I'll take Diet Coke.

  4. My 9yr old son loves the odd cup of tea, milky and the neccessary 2 biscuits for dunking.
    No harm at all.
Now the big questiion, is the tea in Oz, as nice as Lyons tea??

  5. Nothing beats a cup of Lyons tea in an Irish kitchen with two biccies to dunk and a natter to put the world to rights!

No Lyons tea here so I have grown to love Tetleys Drawstring. Nice flavour, no drips, close my eayes and pretend I'm in Ireland!
