Fiery Food Festival

We spent some time this weekend in the beautiful old fashioned town of Morpeth. It is a real step back in time with its big wide main street, rickety wooden bridge and old style shop fronts. This weekend they had a food festival of all things hot and spicy.

Byron was in his element and went from tasting stall to tasting stall. We tried dips and relishes ranging in heat from 6 out of 10 to 14 out of 10?!  I enjoyed the chilli chocolate dip and Gareth enjoyed pretending to eat every one of these cloth "Chilli Man" displays that were hanging outside the different shops.

We really shouldn't laugh but one of the funniest things was watching a rather chubby rude boy push past everyone to grab the tasters. He got what he deserved when he stuffed something too hot in his mouth and stood there red faced and crying until one of the shop staff got him a cold drink. Our kids were whispering and giggling about it in the back of the car all the way home!
