Scribbly Gum

We've been living here in Australia for 5 years now and have got used to a lot of the peculiarities around us. Every now and again something still catches my eye and makes me grin.

This is one of them. It is a type of gum tree called Scribbly Gum because of the funny scribbles left behind by a moth larvae. It is autumn here now and instead of shedding leaves the trees shed their bark exposing this crazy pattern!

I still struggle to get my head around the mixed up seasons. April should be spring not autumn!

Yet another peculiarity in our life Down Under!

  1. Love it! How funny (tree pattern). You are right...it is difficult for me to wrap my head around your posts when you talk about the seasons!

    Take Care,

  3. I love those trees!!

  4. I think it would be very difficult for me to get use to the season difference...wonder if it is the same for the native Australians when they travel as well?
