St Joseph's Christmas Concert.

Tonight we were supposed to go to the girls school and sit out of doors in the playground on camping chairs for a picnic tea. This was going to be followed by the School Christmas concert.

The weather has been a little unpredictable this week with some monster thunder and lightning storms. Today was overcast and rumbles of thunder could be heard in the distance so the school quickly rang a local club and begged the use of their auditorium.

It was a great location, comfy seats, good lighting, access to the club bar and bonus! ... a stage to perform on!
The concert started at 6pm sharp and for the next hour each class had their turn on stage to belt out a mixture of traditional carols, classic songs like "Grandma got run over by a reindeer!" a mini Nativity play and some bizarre Aussiefied versions of childhood songs like "Jingle Bells"

It was great fun and the kids enjoyed it. It was also much comfier than sitting out of doors being eaten alive by mozzies!

I will leave you with the lyrics of "Jingle Bells - The Aussie version"

Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden Ute,
Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot,
Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs,
It's Summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs

Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut !,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.

Engine's getting hot; we dodge the kangaroos,
The swaggie climbs aboard, he is welcome too.
All the family's there, sitting by the pool,
Christmas Day the Aussie way, by the barbecue.

Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.

Come the afternoon, Grandpa has a doze,
The kids and Uncle Bruce, are swimming in their clothes.
The time comes 'round to go, we take the family snap,
Pack the car and all shoot through, before the washing up.

Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute
