Advent calendar.
We have a Christmas tradition in our house that began when Sian was a toddler.
Her Granny in Ireland posted an Advent calendar to her in our home in England. The calendar had little windows with a chocolate behind each one! For a couple of years this worked well, then Rhiannon came along and we did every second day, then Gar came along and we did every third day!
It is a good tradition and it teaches willpower and patience! Every year Granny buys the Advent Calendar in Marks and Spencer's which is a UK and Ireland based shop. Now that we are living in Oz with no M&S it is all the more precious.
This year the postman decided to tease us. Although the calendar went in the post mid November there was no sign of it on Dec 1st... or 2nd... or 3rd...
We deliberated about buying a calendar locally and then decided not too as it would spoil the fun of Granny's one when it arrived. No sign of it on the 4th... or 5th... or 6th...
We thought we might buy one locally until Granny's one arrived. Not a single one was to be found anywhere locally. No sign of it on the 7th... or 8th...
I contemplated making one like our friend Anne-Marie. The thought was good but the reality of work made the time factor impossible. No sign of it on the 9th... or 10th...
We just decided that this year the tradition was going to have to go on hold.
And then FINALLY on the 11th.....
IT ARRIVED!!!
YIPPEEEE!!!!
Thank you Granny!
