Merewether beach: The rest of the day

Our day at Merewether baths on Tuesday was great fun, meeting Mrs World and pretending to be paparazzi which I have already blogged about here

We had so much fun over the whole day and I took hundreds of photos as always. I really need to control the twitch I get when I am out and about with the camera! My friends have started placing bets as to how long I can go without turning the camera on when I am out with them.

Rather than bore you with a big post with tons of photos I am just going to put my favourite photos of the day in a collage here.

For anyone living in the Newcastle area of New South Wales, Merewether baths are just a stunning place to come for a day.

Safe sea water swimming pools refilled by the tides every day, rock pools, soft golden sand, free entry and you never know who you will bump into!

  1. I'm so jealous with the sun and beach photos....it is 52F, windy and rainy right now. And it isn't going to get any better until probably the first of next week. Enjoy the warmth and sun!! :)

  2. Oh, how I miss the beach! Lucky you... wonderful weather in such a lovely place, and the photo opportunities must be endless. I'm definitely jealous! =)

  4. Oooh...I'm jealous! Those pics are so dreamy!

BTW: How DO you make those neat photo collages? I don't know of a program that will do it. (and did I already ask you that before??) If so, I'm sorry!

  5. Hi girls,
Your stories and pictures of your summer got me through the last few months of Australian winter. It rained lots here this winter, temperatures dropped till we needed woolly jumpers and hats and we sometimes even woke to frost! I look forward to making the most of this lovely weather and making you jealous, sorry, cheering you up with our stories and photos. Better get your sunscreen, it's going to be a very hot Christmas!

  6. P.S. Cara: I don't think you have asked already so here goes...!

I use two free editing programs. One is Picasa, a free download from Google. It allows you to grab a bunch of photos and it randomly arranges them in a collage within seconds. You keep pressing the reshuffle button until you are happy with which photo is where. You can't drag and reposition individual photos to the part of the collage you want so it can be a bit of a waiting game reshuffling until you are happy. If you already use Picasa this would be a very quick answer. However I find Picasa a big product and although free it overwhelmed me a little when I first downloaded it so maybe wait till you have a wet day, no housework and content kids....?!

Option two I have mentioned here before. It is a free website called Picnik. There is a free membership or a 12 month Premium for $25 ($2 a month approx) Its collages allow you to individually drag and drop images into particular frames within your collage grid. Much more control. Its free version allows limited styles of collage using up to 5 pictures, the Premium allows you to do much bigger collages with many photos.

I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on!
